MENDOZA
DAVAO CITY – Cotabato Gov. Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza has urged the Inter-Agency Management, Monitoring, and Advisory Group (IMMAG) to closely monitor and ensure transparency in ongoing big-ticket projects in the province.
Mendoza emphasized the importance of IMMAG’s role in ensuring transparent and efficient management in the implementation of vital infrastructure projects.
The governor was referring to the ongoing P2.5-billion Tulunan Small Reservoir Irrigation Project and the Maridagao River Irrigation System Improvement Project.
She reminded the monitor to ensure that these projects are implemented according to approved plan.
The TSRIP, which is eyed to be operational in 2030, is a flagship project of the National Irrigation Administration-Cotabato Irrigation Management.
It is situated in the rice-producing town of Tulunan and expected to irrigate at least 900 hectares of rice farms in eight barangays in the municipality.
According to NIA, the project is designed to supplement existing irrigation coverage provided by the Minapan Communal Irrigation System and Damawato-Bual Bayanihan CIS that currently serve 179 hectares and 734 hectares of rice lands, respectively.
The MRISIP is an integrated development project to address the recurring issues of flooding in the Lower Malitubog Area of the Malitubig-Maridagao Irrigation Project-II.
The MMIP-II was a multi-billion irrigation project that currently serves almost 10,000 hectares of farm lands in Pikit and Aleosan in Cotabato and Pagalungan and Datu Paglas in Maguindanao del Sur. Around 4,000 farmers are benefiting from this project.
