POLICE conducting rescue operation for six missing persons in Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
TACLOBAN CITY – Six individuals, including a child, who were reported missing in Guiuan, Eastern Samar while traveling from Homonhon Island to the mainland, were rescued Friday, Sept. 26.
The victims were identified as Jonathan Macabenta, Marjorie Ballayog, James Benedict Badoc, Jeade Badoc, Jaypee Samarro, and pregnant Ella Garado.
Five of them were rescued at around 8 a.m. by Tropang Sulangan Fisherfolk Association (Sulangan Chapter) near a fish cage in Barangay Sulangan, Guiuan.
Macabenta was rescued in the sea of Baragay Sulangan more than an hour later.
The rescued victims were taken to a hospital in Guiuan for medical checkup.
Their boat capsized when their boat was battered by strong waves generated by tropical cyclone ''Ompong.''
