QC gov't warns public against fake medical certificates
The Quezon City Health Department (QCHD) has raised alarm over reports of individuals producing and selling fake medical certificates in the city.
In an advisory on Wednesday, Sept. 24, the QCHD emphasized that medical certificates issued by the city’s 67 health centers are free of charge and have a Unique Facility Control Number, which identifies the specific health center where the document was released.
The department warned that falsifying or editing a medical certificate constitutes a violation of Article 172 of the Revised Penal Code and may also fall under Republic Act No. 11332, or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases Act.
Companies and institutions were likewise urged to carefully verify medical certificates submitted by employees or applicants to ensure their authenticity.
Residents are encouraged to report or verify suspicious documents through the QCHD email at [email protected], the official QCHD Facebook page.
