The Pasay City Health Office was placed on Code White Alert on Thursday, Sept. 25, in preparation for the threat of Typhoon Opong, which is expected to affect the country, including Metro Manila.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the alert status was declared based on the recommendation of the Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development to ensure that all the city hospitals, health facilities, and medical personnel are on standby and ready to assist residents in case of emergency.
Rubiano also ordered the preparation of essential health commodities like medicines, hygiene kits, and other medical supplies.
She likewise directed that rubber boats be stationed at the City Hall lobby for immediate deployment to flooded areas to rescue residents who may be trapped in their homes.
Rubiano added that the rubber boats will also be used to deliver basic services to affected residents.
