Manila, other Metro cities announce class suspensions due to Opong's threat
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso announced the suspension of classes on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26 and 27, as the city prepares for the expected onslaught of typhoon "Opong" and the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) which will bring heavy to intense rains across Luzon, including Metro Manila.

Classes in Pasig City and Mandaluyong City were suspended on Thursday, Sept. 25, due to the expected inclement weather caused by typhoon "Opong" and the enhanced southwest monsoon (Habagat).
In Pasig City, the class suspension covered day care and Kindergarten students, both in public and private schools.
In Mandaluyong City. Kindergarten to preschool students were covered, both in public and private schools.
The local government units (LGUs) advised residents to stay alert and take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

"Upon the recommendation of the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MCDRRMO), I am ordering the suspension of face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private schools on Friday and Saturday, 26–27 September 2025. This is in preparation for the expected impact of Severe Tropical Storm Opong, which weather forecasters warn would bring heavy rainfall, possible flooding, and strong winds in Metro Manila and surrounding provinces," the mayor said.
"All schools in the nation’s capital are advised to shift to ADM or Alternative Delivery Mode," he added.
