'I know his heart, I know the truth': Mayor Maan on Rep. Marcy's DOJ cases
Marikina City Mayor Maan Teodoro said the charges of acts of lasciviousness and rape filed against her husband, Rep. Marcy Teodoro, are “complete nonsense” and have no basis in truth.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) Spokesperson Jose Dominic Clavano IV revealed on Thursday, Sept. 25, that two former female close-in security personnel of Teodoro filed separate complaints against him, alleging that he sexually assaulted them while they were part of his security detail.
“Bilang asawa ni Marcy, ako ang pinaka nakakakilala sa kanya (As Marcy’s wife, I know him best). I know his heart, his character, and his integrity, and I stand beside him because I know the truth,” the mayor said.
“HINDI TOTOO ang mga paratang laban sa kanya. ISANG MALAKING KALOKOHAN (The allegations against him are not true. They are complete nonsense),” she added.
Mayor Maan described the accusations against her husband as not only false but also deeply hurtful to their family and to Marikeños who know him.
“For years, I have seen him serve with humility, honesty, and compassion. Marcy is a loving husband, a good father, and a true public servant,” she said.
She claimed that the allegations are not just simple claims but part of a wider, organized effort by powerful political forces to damage her husband’s reputation.
“Walang kasinungalingan ang makakatalo sa katotohanan (No lie can overcome the truth). We put our faith in God, in our people, and in what is right,” the mayor continued.
She also said that some individuals who have not yet moved on continue to make political attacks and urged the people of Marikina to keep fighting against those trying to harm their city.
She thanked Marikeños for their trust and support, saying it gives her and Rep. Marcy Teodoro strength and courage.
Rep. Teodoro also released a statement earlier, saying that the accusations against him are malicious and untrue.
He said he had yet to receive the formal complaints filed against him. Despite this, he underscored that "an allegation cannot be considered evidence.”
