The Caloocan City government inaugurated a new and spacious livelihood area designed to provide Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) with better working conditions for their skills and livelihood training.
The facility offers PDLs a more comfortable space to produce bayong products, create paper crafts, sew rags, and provide haircut services.
Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan highlighted the dedication of PDLs who continue to support their families despite their circumstances.
“Noon pa man ay nakikita na natin ang dedikasyon ng ating PDLs na patuloy na makatulong sa kanilang pamilya sa kabila ng kanilang sitwasyon (Even before, we have seen the dedication of our PDLs to continue supporting their families despite their situation),” he said.
The project was made through the partnership of the Caloocan City Local Economic and Investment Promotion Office (LEIPO), the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI).
Malapitan expressed gratitude to the partner agencies, stressing their shared commitment to valuing every Batang Kankaloo.
