Singaporean firms commit to developing Clark aviation campus
Three Singapore-based aviation firms have committed to help develop the Clark International Aviation Campus, envisioned as a state-of-the-art aviation school, according to the state-run Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC).
The CIAC announced on Wednesday, Sept. 24, that it has signed memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with Dviation Training Centre Sdn. Bhd., ST Engineering Urban Solutions Ltd., and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University–Asia Ltd. (ERAU-Asia).
CIAC, the aviation and land development arm of the state-run Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), anticipates that these agreements will expedite the development of the aviation campus.
CIAC President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jojit Alcazar said the MOUs were signed in on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Conference and Exhibition on Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) in Singapore last week.
"Aviation in Singapore is a key component of its successful economy, and we’re fortunate to forge mutually beneficial relationships with leading institutions here,” said Alcazar.
The first MOU, signed Sept. 17 with Dviation Training Centre, specifically focuses on cooperation in aviation training and development.
Dviation is a known leader in comprehensive aviation services, including aircraft acquisition, operations, and technical support, the CIAC said.
On Sept. 18, the CIAC signed an agreement with ST Engineering Urban Solutions Ltd., which expressed interest in developing smart city and aviation technologies at the Clark Aviation Complex (CAC)
The CAC, the future home of the Clark International Aviation Campus, is the prime government land surrounding Clark International Airport.
The CIAC said its partnership with ST Engineering Urban Solutions aims to support the area’s growth through sustainable and intelligent infrastructure.
Meanwhile, on Sept. 18, the CIAC formalized its partnership with ERAU-Asia to explore joint efforts in aviation education, training, and workforce development.
According to the agency, Embry-Riddle is globally recognized as one of the largest universities specializing in aviation and aerospace.
“These partnerships affirm CIAC’s commitment to building strong ties with global industry leaders to advance Clark’s role as a leading aviation hub in the Philippines,” Alcazar said.
The Clark International Aviation Campus is seen as a focal point of the CAC, which is positioning itself as the country's premier aviation-related and logistics hub.
The campus is expected to introduce pilot training programs, as well as skills training in components and assembly manufacturing, production engineering, procurement, and distribution.
In June, the CIAC said that it sealed partnerships with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA) to develop the project.
PhilSCA expects the project to generate around 13 million direct jobs in the aviation industry by 2038, contributing approximately ₱1.7 trillion to the economy.
