Approximately 2,000 individuals participated in Makati City's internship program aimed at giving a hands-on experience in working in the local government through its various offices and departments, Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay said.
Binay led the orientation of the participants at the Makati Coliseum on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
In the program implemented through the Makati Public Employment Services Office (PESO), Makati youth, 18 to 30 years old, were given temporary training and employment to learn the basic and advanced workarounds in the city government.
Participants must complete at least 20 hours of work per week and meet specific qualifications, including being drug-free, fit-to-work, and having completed at least Grade 10 or its equivalent.
Interns are compensated P695 per day for eight hours of work.
"Through this initiative, the city government continues its commitment to nurturing young talent and providing practical training that bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world work experience," Binay said.
