DigiPlus expanding to South Africa with 3 license applications
Just after the launch of its operations in Brazil, the Philippines’ premier online gaming firm DigiPlus Interactive Corp. is now seeking to expand to South Africa and has formally filed its license applications with the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB).
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), the Tanco-led firm said this move advances DigiPlus’ entry into one of the most promising regulated online gaming markets globally.
DigiPlus said it has applied for three operator licenses in South Africa: a national manufacturer license, a bookmaker license, and a bookmaker premises license.
WCGRB is regarded as the preferred jurisdiction for international operators like DigiPlus due to its transparent regulatory processes and digital readiness.
“The filing of our online gaming license in South Africa marks another milestone in DigiPlus’ global growth journey, as we bring our proven track record of innovation, responsible gaming, and player protection, together with our strength in localizing games for diverse markets, to one of Africa’s most dynamic economies,” said DigiPlus Chairman Eusebio Tanco.
This milestone shortly follows DigiPlus’ launch in Brazil last Monday, Sept. 22, with its first international brand GamePlus.
“Together, these developments actualize the company’s vision of becoming a leading digital entertainment provider for the world’s most dynamic emerging markets,” said DigiPlus.
DigiPlus said its entry into Brazil, Latin America’s fastest-growing iGaming market, is a significant step in its global expansion strategy and it is ready to thrive in the regulated market that generated $3.2 billion in gross gaming revenues (GGR) in the first semester.
The company sees the country’s strict compliance framework as an opportunity to differentiate itself by prioritizing transparency and player welfare.
“Our entry into this dynamic market is the culmination of a global-first mindset, strong collaboration between our teams, and an unwavering commitment to responsible gaming operations. We are not just bringing a platform to Brazil; we are bringing a new standard of safe digital entertainment,” said Tanco.
DigiPlus soft-launched its Brazil operations with GamePlus, its first international brand, on Sept. 22. After GamePlus, DigiPlus is targeting to launch BingoPlus as its second platform in Brazil in 2026.
“GamePlus is designed to deliver simple, fun entertainment to the Brazilian market, filling a key strategic vertical for DigiPlus,” said DigiPlus Brazil Country Manager Graham Tidey.
He added that, “GamePlus will launch with a catalogue featuring over 150 of Brazil’s top games—both in free-to-play and real-money versions—and will soon add exclusive content inspired by local folklore, casual games, and sports, ensuring a culturally resonant experience.”
