An abandoned newborn girl was rescued in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan on Wednesday morning.
The Cagayan Provincial Information Office said the baby was discovered by an elderly woman in a vacant lot on Bagay Road.
Authorities took the baby to a hospital in Tuguegarao City. Tests were conducted on her and she was declared healthy.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office said the baby has been provided clothes and appropriate vitamins and vaccines.
Initial assessment by doctors said the baby was born either Tuesday or early Wednesday morning as she had an umbilical cord clip when she was found.
Police are conducting follow-up investigation to identify her parents.
