LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Seven fishermen were killed and six others were rescued from the fishing boat that capsized at the height of super typhoon “Nando” in Santa Ana, Cagayan, on Monday.
The Coast Guard District Northeastern Luzon identified the fatalities as Jimmy Pascual, Mark Dave Ponteliar, Chris Prodente Sanchez, Russel Loresto, Rommel Moong, Randy Roldan, and George de los Santos.
Their remains are in the custody of the Rural Health Unit for safekeeping and proper dispositiopn,
Police said the rescued fishermen – Jayson Garcia, Glen Mansalapas, Jerrymar Quiap, Eric Altamarino, Jason Bago, and Ronaldo Roldan – are recovering in a hospital.
The victims were taking shelter on board FB Jobhenz when strong winds and large waves carried their boat away from San Vicente Port.
The incident was reported to authorities who swiftly launched a search and rescue operation.
