4-year-old girl dies after alleged beating by mom in Dasma

CAVITE – A four-year-old girl died after reportedly being beaten by her mother in Barangay Salawag, Dasmariñas City, on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

A report from the Cavite Police Provincial Office identified the victim as alias Crystal and her 23-year-old mother as alias Beverly.
The Dasmariñas Component City Police Station (CCPS) told the Manila Bulletin that at the time of the incident, two witnesses who lived with the suspect and the victim saw the former hitting the child with a piece of wood.
The girl reportedly sustained body injuries.
When the victim lost consciousness, the suspect asked for help from the two witnesses to bring her to the hospital.
Upon arrival at the hospital, however, the victim was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
The investigation revealed that the suspect had repeatedly hurt the victim, who was previously under the care of her grandparent and had only been living with the suspect for the past couple of months.
Authorities added that aside from the fresh wounds, an ocular inspection also showed older injuries, possibly caused by previous beatings. 
The suspect is now under the custody of Dasmariñas CCPS and is facing a parricide charge.
