Members of the Pasay City Police arrested two men for illegally detaining two women and robbing them inside a hotel in Pasay City on Sept. 23.
Pasay City Police Chief Col. Joselito De Sesto identified the suspects as Ryan, 39, and Armar Jonard, 38.
De Sesto said that based on the investigation, the victims, identified as Editha, 33, of Pasay City, and Kylie, 34, an online seller and a resident of Fairview, Quezon City, were eating at a fast food in Makati City when they were approached by three men who befriended and invited them to a drinking session at around 2:30 a.m.
He said the suspects convinced the victims to board a black Toyota Fortuner and go on a joyride around the Makati area.
The victims, sensing danger, asked the suspects to stop the car, but they refused and continued driving, passing Buendia Avenue until it checked-in in at the Sogo Hotel located at the Service Road in Roxas Boulevard, Barangay 13, Pasay City.
The police said that while inside the vehicle, Kylie was able to secretly take a video of the suspects but this was deleted by the suspects who asked her for P3,000 cash while Editha was instructed to transfer P18,000 to a bank count.
The police said minutes later, after checking in at the hotel, suspects Armar Jonard and an unidentified suspect were seen leaving the hotel premises on board their vehicle, bringing with them one of the victims, Kylie.
A hotel supervisor, after seeing the vehicle leave the premises, conducted a check inside the room occupied by the group and found Editha physically abused and bloodied, which prompted the hotel staff to prevent Ryan from leaving and call for police assistance.
De Sesto said that during a follow-up operation conducted by members of the Pasay City Police Substation 1, with the cooperation of the wife of Ryan, the suspect, Armar Jonard, was arrested, while an unidentified suspect eluded arrest.
He said Kylie was rescued inside the Sogo Hotel Buendia branch where she was repeatedly raped by Armar Jonard and the still unidentified suspect.
The city police chief said the suspects were detained at the Pasay City Police custodial facility after their arrest.
They were charged with violations of Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code (Serious Illegal Detention), Article 294 of RPC, (Robbery with Violence or Intimidation) and Section 6 of Republic Act No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), in relation to Article 294 of the Revised Penal Code (Robbery).
