Zaldy Co calls kickback allegations 'baseless'

Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co has denied receiving kickbacks from flood control projects, as claimed by former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) engineer Henry Alcantara in a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

"The allegations made against me during today’s Senate hearing are false and baseless," Co, the former House Committee on Appropriations chairman, said in a terse statement Tuesday afternoon.

"I reserve my right to respond to these allegations at the proper time before the proper forum," added the Bicolano.

Co did not say anything about his current whereabouts or health status. He reportedly has a heart ailment and is receiving treatment abroad.

House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III recently revoked Co's travel clearance and asked him to come home immediately.

According to Alcantara, the Ako Bicol solon have benefited from around ₱35 billion worth of insertions for infrastructure projects since 2022.
