Woman arrested for trying to bribe Taguig police officers
Authorities arrested a woman after she attempted to bribe Taguig police officers with P10,000 in exchange for the release of her detained cousin.
The Taguig police identified the suspect as PBG, 31, a resident of Virginia Extension, Barangay 130 in Pasay.
The alleged bribery happened at about 5:10 p.m. on Sept. 21 inside the Taguig police’s Station Drug Enforcement Unit office in Barangay Tuktukan.
The Taguig police said the woman went to the SDEU office and spoke with Capt. Kenny Khamar Khayad, chief of SDEU, and Lt. Eson Lacwasan, deputy chief of SDEU.
During the conversation, she pulled out a brown envelope from her shorts and handed it to Khayad. Upon inspection, the envelope contained P10,000 in cash.
The police revealed that the suspect was offering the money in exchange for the release of her cousin, identified as alias Ivan, who was arrested earlier on the same day during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
SDEU officers arrested the woman. She is facing a complaint for bribing police officers in violation of Article 212 of the Revised Penal Code (corruption of public officials).
The Taguig police said they do not condone nor tolerate any form of corruption.
