BAGUIO CITY – A 74-year-old man who was among the nine victims of a landslide in Tuba, Benguet, during the height of super typhoon "Nando" Monday died while being treated in a hospital.
Four vehicles, a Ford Ranger, a Toyota Innova, a Toyota Grandia, and a tanker truck, all headed to Baguio City were damaged in the 2 p.m. landslide.
The Tuba Municipal Police Station said the fatality from Tarlac was trapped in his vehicle and extricated by rescuers and taken to the hospital.
The eight passengers and drivers of the other vehicles were also rescued taken to hospitals.
Meanwhile, major roads to this city, such as Marcos Highway, Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Road, Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road, and Naguilian Road are now passable to motorists.
Kennon Road remains closed due to the high possibility of landslides and rockfalls caused by incessant rains.
