The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) cleared impounded vehicles that had been causing traffic congestion along Commonwealth Avenue on Monday, Sept. 22.
The operation was conducted around 9:30 a.m. in front of Traffic Sector 5.
The clearing operation is in response to the concern raised by Department of Transportation (DOTr) Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez.
The QCPD District Traffic Enforcement Unit (DTEU coordinated with the DOTr, Land Transportation Office (LTO), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Meralco, and Barangay Commonwealth for the clearing operations.
Impounded vehicles were removed and relocated to a designated impounding site, while a firetruck from Barangay Commonwealth was deployed to wash and clear the roadway.
The operation freed up two lanes along Commonwealth Avenue, which are now open to motorists.
DOTr Assistant Secretary for Road Transport and Non-Infrastructure Dioscoro Reyes inspected the site and lauded the QCPD and its partner agencies for their swift and well-coordinated action.
Col. Randy Glenn Silvio assured the public of sustained efforts to maintain road safety and order.
“This operation shows our commitment to maintaining order and acting quickly on issues that affect traffic and public safety. We will continue working closely with other agencies to keep our roads clear and our communities safe,” he said.
