A post on X (formerly Twitter) by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) acknowledged France, Portugal, Australia, Monaco, Canada, United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Belgium, Malta, and Andorra.
In the high-level international conference in New York during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) there, the Philippines noted how “states are speaking in solidarity for stopping war & suffering in Gaza.”
“(The Philippines) has always stood for two-state solution as the only viable path to peace in the Middle East,” it added.
A post on X by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday said that “the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is morally, legally & politically intolerable.”
“The nightmare must stop. Today, I called on world leaders to do all they can to ensure the Two-State solution prevails, for the people of Israel, Palestine & all humanity,” he wrote.
The high-level meeting came after the General Assembly’s resolution that endorsed the outcome declaration from the first phase of the conference in July at the UN headquarters.
The UN secretary-general also reiterated the UN’s call for ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all hostages, and the safe and unhampered humanitarian access to Gaza.
He also criticized the Oct. 7, 2023 attack by Hamas on Israel and the “collective punishment of the Palestinian people.”
Meanwhile, DFA Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro also commemorated the 30th Anniversary of the 4th World Conference on Women during the general assembly.
“At #UNGA80, I joined global leaders in commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the 4th World Conference on Women, reaffirming our collective commitment to accelerating gender equality and empowering women and girls worldwide towards a more just and equitable future for all,” she wrote.
