Malacañang said President Marcos was monitoring the country's weather situation amid the ongoing onslaught of Super Typhoon Nando and a developing tropical depression.

He was also constantly getting updates from Department of National Defense (DND) Seceretary Gilbert Teodoro, according to the Palace.

"The President is monitoring the weather situation and Sec. Gibo Teodoro is giving him constant updates," Malacañang told reporters on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the low-pressure area (LPA) east of Eastern Visayas developed into a tropical depression on Tuesday morning.

This as Super Typhoon Nando left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

As of 10 a.m., the center of the tropical depression was located 1,075 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 70 kph. It is moving west at 35 kph.

Super Typhoon Nando left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) at 5 a.m. Tuesday, but three areas in Northern Luzon remain under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3, Pagasa said.
