Gabriela Party-list Rep. Sarah Elago officially took her seat in plenary Tuesday, Sept. 23 as a member of the House of Representatives in the current 20th Congress.
Elago, a member of the militant Makabayan bloc, took her oath of office during plenary session Tuesday afternoon.

Elago--expected to align with the House minority--was accompanied to the rostrum by past and present solons of the Makabayan bloc.
Gabriela--known as the defender of the rights and interests of women and children--was recently proclaimed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as the 64th and final party-list seat winner in the House from the mid-term polls last May.
With Elago's entry, the Makabayan bloc in the current Congress will now be composed of her, ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. Antonio Tinio, and Kabataan Party-list Rep. Renee Co.
