DAVAO CITY – Davao City has been named by World Travel Index as the best city to visit in the Philippines.
The recognition highlights the city’s affordability, safety, and quality of life, solidifying its reputation as a premier travel destination.
According to WTI, the survey determined the rankings based on several factors, including the cost of overnight stays, dining and shopping expenses, car rental and gas prices, and the quality of local attractions, safety, and infrastructure.
Davao City excelled across these metrics with 75.48 points, standing out as the most attractive city for travelers in the country, WTI said.
WTI noted that Davao City’s affordability, well-maintained attractions, and strong infrastructure contributed to its top ranking.
“The city’s commitment to providing a secure and enjoyable travel experience has made it a preferred destination for domestic and international tourists,” the WTI – a data-driven platform that provides destination rankings based on metrics like cost, safety, attractions, and overall experience, using AI and aggregated data from user assessments and travel websites – said.
Davao City is recognized as one of the Philippines’ safest cities, ranking second in the country with a safety score of 80.73, just behind Dumaguete City’s 81.36.
Strict local regulations, including prohibitions on smoking in public areas, speeding, and the use of firecrackers, bolster the city’s safety record.
The city is also celebrated for its high quality of life, vibrant culture, rich history, and famous local delicacies such as durian, often called the “king of fruits.”
Its eco-friendly approach to tourism and cleanliness has earned it praise from residents and visitors.
