CEBU CITY – A Cebuana fashion icon and businesswoman checked off another item on her international bucket list when she graced the opening gala of Metropolitan Opera House (also known as The Met) on Sunday, Sept. 21, in Lincoln, New York.
Priscilla “Happy” Melendres was the lone Filipina to grace the prestigious event, which is arguably the single most prestigious and anticipated night of the season in New York.
At the event, Melenders got to rub elbows with world-renowned conductor Giacomo Sagripante, who both stunned in Giorgio Armani (styled by Corvera).
Sagripante will perform at the Met starting Oct. 17, Melendres said.
“It was an honor and privilege to attend the opening gala, especially since I was the lone Filipina there. I received a lot of compliments. They said I had the most beautiful dress of the night,” Melendres said.
Melendres’ attendance at The Met came months after she received the Special Icon Awardee for Fashion and Media Excellence at the Global Filipino Icon Awards 2025 at Dusit Thani in Dubai, United Arab Emirates last April.
Melendres was the first Cebuana to receive the award honoring her influence in the field of international fashion.
