'Tempest' becomes No. 1 most viewed Korean original premiere on Disney+ of 2025
The Korean series “Tempest,” which stars Jun Ji-hyun, Gang Dong-won and John Cho, achieved the feat of becoming the No. 1 most viewed Korean original premiere of 2025 on Disney+ globally.
The record was announced by Disney+, saying “Tempest” achieved the record globally, in the Asia-Pacific region and in Korea based on five days of streaming.
A spy thriller, “Tempest” follows Seo Munju (Jun Ji-hyun), a skilled former diplomat, as she tries to uncover the truth behind an attempt on a presidential candidate’s life.
After discovering the candidate has been accused of being a North Korean spy, Munju digs into his past, unlocking a Pandora’s box of deception, state secrets and more.
Protected by Baek Sanho (Gang Dong-won), a mercenary with a suspicious history and a hidden backer, Munju repeatedly finds herself under attack as she uncovers an international conspiracy stretching all the way to the White House.
“Tempest” also stars Lee Mi-sook, Park Hae-joon, Christopher Gorham, Michael Gaston and Spencer Garrett.
It is directed by Kim Hee-won, co-directed by Korea’s leading martial arts director, Heo Myeonghaeng, and written by Chung Seok-yung.
