House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III said that it would be for the best to just leave the investigation on the flood control projects mess to the Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI).
In a chance interview Monday, Sept. 22 Dy said the House must submit to the Palace-created independent body.
"Kailangan i-submit na namin sa ICI. Tutal, hindi naman pinaniniwalaan ng karamihan sa ating mga kababayan kung ano ang nangyayari dito sa infra comm (We must submit this to the ICI. Anyway, most of our countrymen don't believe what's happening in the infa comm)," Dy said.
"Sa tingin ko, mas makabubuti na ipasa na namin sa ICI (In my view, it's better if we pass it over to ICI)," he added.
Dy was alluding to the House Infrastructure Committee, the special joint panel that was formed during the previous House leadership to probe anomalous and "ghost" flood mitigation projects in government.
The infra comm has carried out two public hearings so far.
As this developed, the ICI, chaired by retired Supreme Court (SC) Justice Andres Reyes Jr., had also covened.
Dy, who represents the 6th district of Isabela, say the lower chamber's focus is on passing the proposed P6.793-trillion national budget for 2026 on time.
"Ang importante po ngayon ay tapusin po natin yung ating budget. Doon ho tayo ngayon naka-focus. Sisguraduhin natin na maayos, malinis ang budget nato. Kaya sana ay bigyan niyo po kami ng sapat na panahon," he said.
(What important right now is to finish the budget. That's where our focus is. We will make sure that this budget is properly handled. That's why we ask you to give up ample time.)
Dy was installed House Speaker only last Sept. 17.
