BACOLOD CITY – The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region logged no crimes during the rallies against corruption and martial law anniversary participated in 3,350 individuals in Negros Island on Sunday.
Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR director, thanked people for their discipline and cooperation. Their actions were instrumental in keeping the events safe and orderly, he said.
This highlighted the non-violent culture of the people of Negros and Siquijor, further strengthened by sound security preparations, respect for human rights, maximum tolerance, proactive coordination, and the strong support of local government units (LGUs) and communities, the PRO-NIR stated.
Ibay thanked 1,879 police personnel deployed to NIR, LGUs, and the church for their indispensable roles in the success of peacekeeping operations.
The PRO-NIR said that the primary objectives of the security operations were fully achieved, as peace and order were maintained, public safety was ensured, and citizens exercised their rights peacefully and with respect to authority.
“This reflects the effectiveness of the security measures in place,” Ibay said.
He noted that public cooperation and adherence to guidelines were crucial in maintaining order.
