President Marcos has assured the public that government agencies are on alert in providing assistance "wherever and whenever" amid the onslaught of Super Typhoon Nando.

In a statement on Monday, Sept. 22, Marcos said they are closely monitoring the situation.

"Nakatanggap tayo ng mga ulat mula sa iba’t ibang probinsya ukol sa Bagyong Nando. Malalakas ang hangin na nararanasan, ngunit sa ngayon ay hindi pa malakas ang ulan (We have received reports from various provinces regarding Typhoon Nando. Strong winds are being experienced, but for now, the rainfall is not yet heavy)," Marcos said.

He said preemptive evacuations have been carried out.

"May mga isinagawang preemptive evacuation at tinutugunan agad natin ang pangangailangan ng mga nasa evacuation centers (Preemptive evacuations have been carried out, and we are immediately addressing the needs of those in evacuation centers)," Marcos said.

"Mahigpit nating mino-monitor ang sitwasyon, at naka-alerto ang lahat ng ahensya ng pamahalaan upang makapagbigay ng tulong saanman at kailanman kailanganin (We are closely monitoring the situation, and all government agencies are on alert to provide assistance wherever and whenever it is needed)," Marcos added.

As of 10 a.m. on Monday, the center of the eye of Typhoon Nando was located 110 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan, moving westward at 20 kilometers per hour (kph).

It was packing maximum sustained winds of 215 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 265 kph.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned of life-threatening conditions in northern Luzon as Super Typhoon Nando moved closer to Babuyan Islands.
