Batangas police on full alert for 'Nando'
Sea voyages suspended in Quezon
BATANGAS CITY – The Batangas Police Provincial Office is on full alert and has intensified preparations and response efforts as super typhoon ‘’Nando’’ made landfall on Monday afternoon.
BPPO Director Police Col. Geovanny Emerick Sibalo said they have prepositioned essential disaster response equipment.
He added that they are actively monitoring the evolving weather situation and ready to execute search and rescue (SAR), evacuation, clearing, and relief operations.
These efforts are being carried out in close coordination with local government units (LGUs), national agencies, and partner stakeholders, he said.
“With our PNP units, LGUs, and partner agencies working together, the Batangas police is ready to respond quickly and effectively to protect lives and support affected communities,” Sibalo said.
Sea voyages suspended
LUCENA CITY, Quezon – The Coast Guard Station Northern Quezon temporarily suspended sea voyages within the Polillo Group of Islands and General Nakar, Quezon on Monday after tropical cyclone wind signal No. 1 was hoisted due to Nando on Monday.
The order was in line with HPCG Memorandum Circular 02-23 entitled “Revised Guidelines on the Movement of Vessel During Heavy Weather” dated March 23, 2023.
Voyages may be allowed in the main supply routes and special areas under the conditions set forth by the order verified by the station.
Vessels were reminded to take precautionary measures and be extra vigilant in monitoring the movement of the typhoon.
Voyages will resume until further notice and upon improvement of weather and sea condition.
Vessels that intend to take shelter shall be permitted as long as it is manifested through a written request and no passenger and cargo will be allowed on board.
