One man was killed and 48 others were injured in violent clashes between protesters, unidentified elements, and police in Mendiola, Manila, on Sunday, Sept. 21, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.
Records from the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRRMMC) showed that two policemen sustained minor injuries, including lacerations and bruises, but were immediately discharged after treatment.
Meanwhile, the DOH said one unidentified man was confirmed dead.
“Idineklarang dead on arrival ang biktima matapos umanong saksakin sa gitna ng kaguluhan (He was declared dead on arrival after reportedly being stabbed during the chaos),” it stated.
The health department said another six patients sustained various serious injuries, including a foot laceration, eye trauma, head trauma, an injury to the artery of the left arm, a gunshot wound, and a severe arm wound.
It added that four of them have already been discharged, while two remain admitted for further medical care.
