WALANG PASOK: Palace suspends classes, gov't work in several areas on Sept. 22 due to 'Nando'

Malacañang has announced the suspension of classes at all levels and government work in several areas across Luzon on Monday, Sept. 22, due to the forecasted heavy rainfall brought about by Super Typhoon Nando and the southwest monsoon.
Based on Memorandum Circular No. 97 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Sunday, Sept. 21, classes at all levels are suspended in the following areas:
- Metro Manila
- Abra
- Antique
- Apayao
- Bataan
- Batanes
- Batangas
- Benguet
- Bulacan
- Cagayan
- Cavite
- Ifugao
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- Isabela
- Kalinga
- La Union
- Laguna
- Mountain Province
- Nueva Ecija
- Nueva Vizcaya
- Occidental Mindoro
- Oriental Mindoro
- Pampanga
- Pangasinan
- Palawan
- Romblon
- Rizal
- Tarlac
- Zambales
The decision was made upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
However, agencies responsible for basic, vital, and health services, and preparedness and response duties must continue to remain operational to ensure continuity of essential government functions.
Non-vital government employees of subject agencies and all other government employees may be engaged under approved alternate work arrangements.
On the other hand, the localized cancellation or suspension of classes or work in government offices in other regions may be implemented by their respective Local Chief Executives, pursuant to relevant laws, rules, and regulations.
The suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads.
