Tab Baldwin signs 3-year extension with Blue Eagles

Baldwin, 67, will hold the position for three more years and 12th overall since he joined the Blue Eagles in 2016, winning a three-peat (2017-19) and a 2022 title in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament.
University president Fr. Roberto Yap, S.J., who shared the development, led the renewal of contract between Ateneo and Baldwin at the Jesuit Residence Chapel inside Ateneo campus.
“With you guys, I will be able to be a part of rebuilding this program — bringing glory and success back to the hill,” said Balwin.
Season 88 marked Baldwin’s eighth season with the Blue Eagles who he steered to four championships and two runner-up finishes.
This year, Baldwin aims to rebuild and bring Ateneo back to the playoffs with Jared Bahay and several additions leading the way.
It wasn’t all success for the seasoned mentor in the collegiate ranks as he recently absorbed his worst season with Ateneo after falling short to qualify to Final Four with a 4-10 win-loss record to finish dead last in Season 87.
Baldwin has been coaching since the early 1980s, guiding teams from his hometown New Zealand – where he won 5 titles and 4 Coach of the Year plums – and also in Europe and the Middle East before taking his talent to the Philippines.
He then became the team consultant for Gilas Pilipinas in 2013 then took over the squad in 2015.
