Solcom assures loyalty to Constitution, chain of command

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – The Armed Forces Southern Luzon Command assured the people that they are committed and loyal to the Constitution and the chain of command amid ongoing anti-corruption protests.
“Our Solcom, AFP will always be non-partisan as we defend the right to free expression of our people,” Col. Dennis Caña, Solcom spokesman, said.
“We likewise urge everyone to be very vigilant as some unscrupulous group of people such as the CPP-NPA-NDF are sowing more division for their own party interests by spreading half-truths to further agitate the Filipino people,” Caña said.
Solcom, headed by Lt. Gen. Cerilo Balaoro Jr., on Thursday said they stand with the Filipino people in demanding accountability in the multi-billion peso flood control corruption scandal.
As an institution committed to the nation's long-term stability and integrity, Solcom reaffirmed their duty to protect communities and uphold the rule of law.
“Our soldiers, together with our citizens, have worked
to counter insurgency and foster secure and peaceful communities, paving the way for our nation's journey toward prosperity. We recognize the public's right to peaceful, lawful expression, and the widespread call for transparency and accountability,” Solcom said. “We urge all participants to conduct themselves within the bounds of law and public order.”
The Police Regional Office 4-A assured the safety and security of the public participating in protest actions in the region.
Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas, PRO 4-A chief, said more than 3,000 police officers have been assigned throughout the region.
“Our primary duty is to ensure public safety. While we allow and protect the peaceful conduct of protest actions, we will not tolerate any form of violence, destruction of property, or any form of violation of the law,” said Lucas.
