CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – The Calabarzon Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) is on red alert due to super typhoon ‘’Nando.’’
This is to ensure prompt response and coordination of government agencies and local governments in the possible effects of the storm, including flooding, landslides, and evacuation of residents in affected areas.
RDRRMC Calabarzon reminded the public to be alert, follow local government advisories, and prepare for possible evacuation if necessary.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Nando (international name ‘’Ragasa’’) intensified into a super typhoon at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21.
Nando has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph.
The highest tropical cyclone wind signal currently raised is No. 2 and PAGASA is not ruling out the possibility of hoisting Signal No. 5 as Nando could strengthen further before approaching extreme Northern Luzon.
