An unidentified man's body was found floating in a river in Barangay 128, Tondo, Manila, on Thursday, Sept. 18, local officials reported.
Barangay 128 Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) officer Ging Rubia said they received a report from concerned residents about a cadaver found in the waterway. Officials immediately responded and recovered the bloated remains.
"Sa nakita po namin, nakataob na, nakalutang po, bloated na (We found the bloated body upside down)," Rubia said.
Barangay 128 desk officer Angela Garcia said that river's water flows from Navotas City, suggesting the body may have originated there.
“Posibleng galing po siya sa Navotas tapos palabas po ng Manila Bay (The body possibly came from Navotas and was swept away toward the direction of Manila Bay)," Garcia said, adding that no missing persons report has been filed with their office.
Authorities brought the victim's body to a morgue while the investigation continues.
