Man arrested for setting neighbor's house on fire in Rizal
A 29-year-old man was arrested for allegedly setting his neighbor’s house on fire in Rodriguez, Rizal, on Friday, Sept. 19.
According to the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station (MPS), the suspect, identified as “Michael,” was arrested after a complaint was filed by the daughter of the owner of the affected house.
Based on their investigation, the complainant allegedly witnessed the suspect setting fire to their two-story house along Charm Street in Montalban Heights, Barangay San Jose, at around 9 a.m. It prompted the complainant to report the suspect to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Rodriguez.
The house was reportedly constructed mainly of flammable materials such as plywood and galvanized iron sheets, which caused the fire to spread quickly.
However, authorities were not able to determine the exact time the fire was put out, as residents in the area had already extinguished it by the time firefighters arrived.
No injuries were reported, while the damage was estimated at around P96,000.
The suspect is now under police custody as authorities investigate the incident.
