DISCAYA flood control project on hold in Zamboanga City.
ZAMBOANGA CITY – A flood control project being implemented by Alpha Omega General Contractor and Development Corp. owned by controversial couple Pacifico and Sara Discaya here was placed on hold after the construction company's license was revoked.
Phase 1 of the project in Lacaste Ville, Barangay Pasonanca has been completed. A seventy-two percent percent completion rate was reported for Phase 2 and 57 percent for Phase 3. The project under Phase 2 is worth P95 million and Phase 3 is P143 million.
Phase 2 was scheduled to be implemented from May 26 to June 26, 2026. Phase 3 was set for Jan. 14 to December 2026.
The contractor's license was revoked on Sept. 1 by the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board due to alleged corruption and the projects were put on hold as a result.
The matter was endorsed by the DPWH regional office to the head office in Manila for instruction which includes a possible termination of the contract.
Company personnel remain on site while awaiting the final evaluation of the actual work accomplishments.
