BACOLOD CITY – Authorities rescued a policeman and his 16-year-old daughter from drowning in Barangay 5, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, Sept. 18.
Police Lt. Col. Joem Malong, Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) spokesperson, said the 39-year-old police officer’s family was having an outing when he and his daughter decided to swim.
However, they were suddenly caught by strong current and big waves that pulled them toward the deeper portion of the sea.
The Coast Guard launched a search and rescue operation and successfully brought the victims to the shoreline safe and conscious.
They were taken to the City Health Office for further medical attention and later referred to a hospital here. The victims have been discharged.
