Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso assured investors of a more conducive environment in the City of Manila as he urged them to start their businesses in the country's capital city.
During a meeting with officials from the Chinese-Filipino Business Club at the City Hall, he assured them of a more vibrant and safer Manila that has a low crime rate and easier processes for businesses.
On Sept. 10, the mayor announced changes to the city’s zoning requirements as part of his administration's goal to promote ease of doing business and reduce red tape in government transactions.
During the first Manila Zoning Board of Adjustment and Appeals (MZBAA) meeting, Domagoso, who also serves as chairman of the body, announced the reduction of zoning documentary requirements from 22 to just seven.
He explained that the decision aims to simplify and expedite applications without compromising compliance with the city’s Zoning Ordinance and related regulations.
The revised requirements now include only the essentials:
1. Application form
2. Notarized affidavit of undertaking
3. Valid government ID of the owner
4. Barangay Permit
5. Proof of ownership such as a transfer certificate of title
6. A lot plan with detailed vicinity map
7. Signed and sealed architectural plans
For renovations and additional floors, as-built plans will also be required.
Additional board-approved adjustments were made to the requirements for applications for variance and exceptions with the MZBAA following the meeting.
According to the mayor, applicants will now only need five essential documents -- down from the previous 15:
1. A letter of intent addressed to the mayor through the City Planning and Development Office
2. Company profile
3. Barangay resolution
4. Visible project sign
5. Certifications from utility providers
He added that as more businesses open in the city, more Manileños will also have jobs to support their families.
"Malugod nating sasalubungin ang mga negosyanteng handang magbukas ng trabaho at magbigay ng oportunidad para sa ating mga kababayan (We will gladly welcome businessmen who are willing to create jobs and provide opportunities for our countrymen)," Domagoso noted.
