'Kayang kaya niya 'yan': Marcos confident Dizon can handle DPWH anomalies

Noticing a "weak applause" for Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon during an event in Pampanga, President Marcos made another assurance to the public that the new DPWH chief can deliver amid the widespread flood control anomalies he was tasked to address.
Marcos poked fun of the applause given to Dizon when he introduced him to the attendees at the distribution of land titles to farmers in San Fernando, Pampanga on Friday, Sept. 19.
"Batiin po natin ang mga kalihim ng mga iba’t ibang departamento ng Gabinete. Nandito po ang Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon (Let us acknowledge the secretaries of the different Cabinet departments. Here with us is Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon)," Marcos said, cutting his supposed introduction for Dizon when he heard the applause he described as lackluster.
"O, matamlay yung palakpak kasi DPWH e (The applause is a bit weak because it’s DPWH)," Marcos said in jest.
The President, however, made use of the situation to assure the public that the DPWH chief can fix the problems hounding the department.
"Pero kayang-kaya niya. Marami tayong – maraming naiwan na problema na ngayon kailangan niyang ayusin. Pero siguro sa pagkakilala natin sa ating secretary ay kayang-kaya niyang ayusin lahat ‘yan (But he can handle it. There are many problems left behind that now need to be addressed. But knowing our Secretary, I’m sure he can fix all of them)," Marcos said.
He even asked them to help Dizon in his task to resolve the issues in the DPWH, particularly the flood control mess.
"Pagmasdan ninyo. Tulungan niyo po siya dahil marami siyang kailangang gawin (Just watch. Please support him [applause] because he has a lot of work to do)," the President further said.
The Chief Executive said that the government continues to prioritize addressing the needs of the Filipino people amid present challenges.
“Sa kabila ng mga hamon na kinakaharap ng bansa, nananatiling nakatuon ang pamahalaan sa aming mandato at tungkuling maglingkod ng tapat (Despite the challenges the nation is facing, the government remains steadfast in its mandate and duty to serve with integrity),” he said.
Marcos further said the government is committed to correcting processes that hinder national progress.
He also called on Filipinos to unite and help the administration in implementing reforms for a better society.
