Flood submerges 11 sitios in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Seventeen families were evacuated to safer grounds in Barangay Curuan here on Thursday night, Sept. 18, due to floods from heavy rains.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said 11 sitios in Barangay Curuan were affected – Mango Drive, Camias, Market Site, Poblacion, Parusan, Sitio Betong, Sitio Presa, Sitio Mina, Urban Poor, Inner Presa, and River Site.
Authorities rescued individuals trapped by flood reported to be chest deep in some areas.
Displaced individuals were brought to the Curuan Basketball Court and were given food assistance and relief goods.
