PANUKULAN, Quezon – A fishing boat captain was stabbed dead by a fisherman during a drinking spree on their fishing boat in Barangay Balungay, this town, on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
Police identified the victim as Ruel of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.
Investigation said the suspect Robert, 28, stabbed the victim with a knife several times.
The victim fell into the water and drowned while the suspect jumped off the boat, swam to the seashore, and reported the incident to the barangay.
Police arrested the suspect and detained at the police station. The body of the victim is yet to be found.
Meanwhile, a 45-year-old tricycle driver was shot to death in Barangay Talao-Talao, Lucena City, this province, on Thursday night, Sept. 18.
Police identified the victim as Andong.
Investigation said residents heard gunshots and saw the victim lying on the road. The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Three fired cartridge cases and a deformed fired caliber .45 bullet were recovered from the crime scene.
The gunman escaped and the subject of a manhunt.
Follow-up investigation of both cases is ongoing.
