The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said it is currently investigating the hacking of the Anti-Red Tape Authority’s (ARTA) Policy Reform, Innovation, and Streamlining Management (PRISM) platform, which was defaced on Sept. 16.
In a statement on Friday, Sept. 19, the DICT said the cyberattack occurred on Sept. 16 around 8:57 p.m. and involved the defacement of the PRISM platform, an online system that offers training courses on Regulatory Impact Assessment.
“We are currently conducting a thorough assessment of the submitted incident report and closely coordinating with the relevant authorities to ensure a proper investigation and the implementation of necessary measures,” the DICT said.
The department noted that no sensitive data was compromised, as no active users were enrolled in the training courses at the time of the incident.
“Based on the incident report’s initial assessment, no sensitive data has been compromised, and at the time of the incident, no active users are currently enrolled in the said training courses,” it added.
According to DICT, its Cybersecurity Bureau–NCR is working with ARTA to conduct a vulnerability assessment and put in place safeguards to strengthen the platform.
“The DICT-Cybersecurity Bureau NCR is now closely working with ARTA for a vulnerability assessment and to implement other measures necessary to ensure the safety and security of these systems,” the agency said.
