Sapporo’s Odori Park
Odori Park stretches for over 1.5 km and is rife with gingko leaves bringing life to the city’s skyline. There are lots of local vendors in the area that offer treats like roasted sweet potatoes. You can visit Hokkaido University to check out the trees along either the Ginkgo Tunnel or Heisei Poplar Avenue.
Kosetsuen Garden
Kosetsuen Garden was built back in 1898 and is home to over 150 different species of trees. It’s the perfect place to snap pictures for your socials. It is recommended to drop by sometime late October or early November, just in time for the Hakodate MOMI‑G Festa, which has the park’s autumn leaves lit up at night for a whimsical view.
Daisetzuzan Asahidake Ropeway
Looking for a thrilling view? Take the cable car from Sugatami Station to catch the best view of the Asahidake Ropeway. Once the snow settles in, you’ll also find it a nice place to ski.
Biei: Blue Pond and Shirahige Waterfall
If you’re a fan of tranquil waters, Shirogane Blue Pond is a perfect place for clearing your mind due to its vibrant water. Nearby, you can also spot the Shirahige Waterfall, where the pond’s water comes from.
Jozankei Onsen
Need to warm yourself up? A trip to a Japanese onsen is a good way to unwind from the cold weather. You’ll find the steamy water helps relax your body. You can opt for a ryokan with private outdoor baths, or dip your feet in free riverside pools.
