A fugitive wanted for frustrated homicide in La Trinidad, Benguet -- who carried a P50,000 bounty for his capture -- was arrested on Sept. 17 in Parañaque City during a joint operation by the Southern Police Police District Special Operations Unit (SPD-SOU) and the District Intelligence Unit.
The SPD said Ematong, 47, a construction worker, who went into hiding for 21 years, was finally captured at 5:00 p.m. on Greenhouse Coastal Road in Barangay San Dionisio, Parañaque City
The SPD said members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Baguio and Tublay Municipal Station coordinated with them and the Parañaque City Police Station for the arrest of Ematong.
Ematong was nabbed by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Francis A. Buliyat of La Trinidad, Benguet, Regional Trial Court Branch 9, with a recommended bail of P200,000.
The police said Ematong was listed as a Most Wanted Person with a P50,000 reward under Executive Order issued by Benguet Governor Melchor D. Diclas.
