DAVAO CITY – Vice President Sara Duterte said on Thursday, Sept. 18, that the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan has been inviting her to join the party.
“Almost every week, they talk to me and invite me to join their party. I thought it might be better not to join any party. That way, I don’t have to pretend with other politicians,” Vice President Duterte said.
The Vice President left the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats party last year and denounced what she described as a “despicable political power play.”
Vice President Duterte said she remains with Hugpong ng Pagbabago, a regional party she founded in the Davao region.
“I’m with Hugpong with only one companion—Mayor Al David Uy of Igacos, a board member. There are just the two of us,” she said, joking that they sometimes “play rock-paper-scissors” with a small membership.
Vice President Duterte reiterated that she prefers not to align with any national political group, even with the persistent and clear intent of the PDP-Laban party.
