Looking to be competitive after committing to stay in the PBA for its 50th season, the Dyip made sure to secure the services of Carino, who serves as part of the team's young core.
The 6-foot-9 lanky center is expected to play a huge part in the system of new head coach Ronald Tubid especially with 2025 PBA Rookie Draft top pick Geo Chiu not playing for the Dyip until he finishes his contractual obligations with Abra in the MPBL.
Yu and Cuntapay, on the other hand, were signed to an extension even with the reported sale of the Batang Pier franchise.
It turned out both the two players were very much part of the plans of the incoming PBA team Pureblends which are only awaiting the green light from the PBA Board to begin its takeover.
In attendance during the signing was Aldriane Angkin who is set to be Pureblends’ team manager.
Also signed from the free agency was former Barangay Ginebra gunner Von Pessumal.
Yu, Cuntapay and Pessumal will be forming the Pureblends team along with holdovers Joshua Munzon, Calvin Abueva, Jio Jalalon, Cade Flores, James Kwekuteye, Jerrick Balaza, Sidney Onwubere, Ayan Nava and newly acquired Jeo Ambohot.
Meanwhile, San Miguel also signed ninth overall pick Chris Miller to a two-year deal.
The "rookie-vet" is expected to provide outside sniping and defensive intensity to the defending champions.
