CEBU CITY – A South African national was arrested after he was caught carrying suspected shabu concealed in books when he arrived at the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) on Thursday morning, Sept. 18.
Personnel of the Customs Anti-Drug Interdiction Group (CADIG) recovered at least four kilos of shabu from Keith Charles Moore.
The illegal drugs were worth P27.2 million, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas said.
The suspect arrived at MCIA aboard a flight from Hong Kong.
Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said CADIG personnel were conducting profiling when they noticed the suspect acting suspiciously.
CADIG personnel inspected the suspect’s luggage through the X-ray machine.
The luggage was found to contain books.
PDEA-7 personnel and K9 team were called in.
Further inspection showed that packs of shabu were inserted in the books.
During investigation, the suspect said that he was unaware that packs of shabu were inserted in the books.
The suspect said he was only asked by a friend to bring the luggage and will be picked up by someone.
