ILOILO CITY—The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed more than P136-million worth of illegal drugs from Western Visayas region.
PDEA-6 Regional Director Ralph Rommel Torres led the ceremonial destruction on Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Iloilo City landfill.
Bulk of the drugs destroyed were shabu worth P131 million. Also destroyed were P5.4 million worth of marijuana, ephedrine, psilocin, and expired medicines.
Torres said the destruction showed that illegal drugs confiscated during operations are not recycled.
Majority of the destroyed drugs were from cases that have been decided by courts in Iloilo and Negros Occidental.
Present during the event were the Department of Justice (DOJ), Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), Iloilo City government, and Police Regional Office-6.
