Midlaners shine as Yue, Sanji score savages; Aurora seizes MPL lead in Week 4

It was a week for midlaners as Kenneth "Yue" Tadeo of Aurora and Alston "Sanji" Pabico of Team Liquid PH both scored their first-career savages over the weekend to steer their teams to a sweep of their week 4 assignments in the MPL Philippines Season 16 at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati over the weekend.
Aurora Gaming stayed hot and kept its hold of the top spot halfway through the MPL season after extending their winning run to six following a first game hiccup to the season.
Providing the biggest highlight to the impeccable week for Aurora was Tadeo who scored the savage in the team's 2-0 sweep of AP.Bren to open the week.
Focused on providing support all-game long, Yue, on the Kimmy pick, took over for Aurora in the final siege of Game 1 where he completed the five-man wipe to become the only third midlaner in MPL history to achieve such a feat.
The win simply set the tone for the spotless week for Aurora which also took down Omega Esports to solidify its hold of the top spot with a 6-1 record.
Not to be outdone, however, was Sanji, who, likewise, completed the rare feat in Game 1 of their 2-0 win over AP.Bren.
Sanji achieved the feat during the 19th minute Lord dance, paving the way to the base push for Team Liquid PH. He was the fourth to achieve the feat following Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel, Yuji “Yuji” Aizawa, and Yue.
Like Aurora, TLPH never looked back from there as they went on to score back-to-back wins after also defeating the slumping Falcon Esports, 2-1.
The defending champion is now at the third spot of the standings with a 5-2 record behind Onic Philippines.
Onic PH also came out unscathed in Week 4 after routing Omega, 2-0, and surviving TNC, 2-1. It has the same 5-2 record but took the second spot by virtue of a superior total game record. Onic sports a 12-5 slate against TLPH 11-5 record.
After leading the way in the first two weeks of the season, Twisted Minds fell down to the No.4 spot with a 4-3 record. It lost its lone match in Week 4, dropping a 2-1 defeat at the hands of TNC, which now seized the No.5 spot after splitting their assignments.
Omega Esports and AP.Bren both have 2-5 slates for the sixth and seventh spot while Team Falcons continue to struggle at dead last with a 1-6 record.
MPL action continues on Friday, Sept. 19.
