'Malamig ang Pasko': Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson confirm breakup

Actors Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson have called it quits.

Star Magic, the talent agency for Gerald, confirmed this in an official statement released on Sept. 18.

Viva Artists Agency, Julia's talent agency, also issued a separate statement regarding the breakup. It said that circulating speculations in recent weeks regarding the reason for the breakup are baseless.

Julia, 28, and Gerald, 36, have been together for more than five years. The former sweethearts began dating during the filming of their movie, "Between," in 2019.

The breakup surprised fans after Gerald told Kuantie Melai in an interview in July that he was ready to settle down.

“Noon kasi natatakot ako na baka maapektuhan ang career at ang oras para sa sarili ko. Ang pinaplano ko ngayon ay maayos na. Pero wala na akong takot ngayon. Malaking factor ang aking kasintahan ngayon kasi mabuti siyang tao,” he admitted when asked about his plans to settle down. (Backthen, I was afraid that my career and time for myself might be affected. What I'm planning now is fine. But I'm not scared anymore. My girlfriend is a significant factor now because she's a good person,” admitted Gerald when asked about his plans to settle down.

There were rumors about their breakup, but both maintained that their relationship was strong. They were confident about settling down together in the future.
